Spring Forward!

Can you believe that it is March 8? I am astounded at how quickly time has been flying! BRAVO to everyone who was involved with the Pancake Breakfast a couple of weeks ago! I was extremely proud of how well everyone did and I got many, many compliments from Lion’s Club members, parents and other community members. RGS and SGE were definitely represented well!

We have a few things coming up that I want to make sure everyone is aware of. Next week, on Thursday, March 14, there is an OPTIONAL full band rehearsal from 4:45-5:30 at Nippersink Middle School. Both RGS and SGE band members are invited. The rehearsal will be in the NMS band room. Drop off at the back entrance of the school (off of South St.) come into the building and turn right. The band room is at the end of the hallway. Parents are responsible for drop-off and pick-up and when the bandlings are picked up, they will have to be signed out. Please consider having your child participate in this event because they will be able to meet Mr. Nowickas who will be their band teacher next year when they are in 6th grade. There will also be some NMS band members attending the rehearsal and we’ll be able to have a Q & A with them about band in 6th grade.
The next week, the band members will be having a concert for the 4th graders in their building. SGE will perform for the 4th graders on Tuesday, March 19 at 2:45pm and RGS band members will perform on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:45pm. There is no evening performance for this concert. Feel free to come to school to see the concert; we’d love to have you! If you can’t make it, don’t worry! We will be playing all three songs at our last BIG concert on Thursday, May 9 at 7pm.
Lesson schedules for the remainder of the school year have been handed out this week. If you ever need another copy, feel free to visit my website HERE
Some of the 5th graders know that I am involved as a cast member in my very first musical! I’ve played in the pit orchestras for many shows, but this is the first time I will actually be a cast member! HERE is the link if you’d like to come and see it. No pressure, but some of my students were asking and I promised I’d let you know how, when and where.
Be on the lookout for Summer Band Camp forms to come out before Spring Break! I know that you start signing your kids up for camps as early as March, so I want to get the forms out for Band Camp soon! We had over 60 6th-8th graders last year at camp and it was a FANTASTIC time! Mr. Nowickas and I are really looking forward to this summer's group!

Have a great weekend!
